Dr. Gretchen Schwarzbeck was raised in Mount Prospect where she attended Prospect High School.  She was first introduced to chiropractic medicine when she injured her back in high school cheerleading.  This inspired her to study Health Sciences at Bradley University and earn her Chiropractic Medicine degree at National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL.

Dr. Tanya Freseth has been serving the Chicago area since 2012. She grew up in Altoona, WI, then ventured onto get her B.S. in Applied Science at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2008. While at UW-Stout, she played basketball for the first two years until back pain got the best of her. It was at that point, she made it her mission to not let injuries and pain stop people from doing what they love.

Ashley Lakin grew up in Lake Forest, IL and has been passionate about food and health from a young age. Ashley graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dietetics before moving to New York City. There, she attended the Natural Gourmet Institute and completed the Chef’s Training Program focusing on health-supportive culinary arts.

I have spent over 20 years in the medical field helping people feel better and achieve their goals. My career started with a physical therapy team as a massage therapist and registered nurse in Poland. I am happy to continue my passion to help people as a part of the Active Care chiropractic and rehabilitation team. I specialize in many forms of massage such as Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Sport Massage, Cupping and Myofascial Release. In my free time I am a painter, poet, gardener and love to travel with my husband.

I am experienced in many modalities such as Fascia Stretch Therapy, Cupping, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Prenatal, and Sports Massage techniques. I have a specialty in Fascial Stretch Therapy where I received my certification from the Stretch To Win institute as a Level 3 Medical Specialist. I also specialize in cupping and myofascial release. I also teach a class called “ Life Stretch” Where I teach you Self assessment, posture, breathing and fascial stretching.

After obtaining her Esthetics License from the Aveda Institute in 1998, Gina started out working with Plastic/Cosmetic surgeons focusing on Medical Esthetics including Laser Hair Removal, Microdermabrasion and skin care. 8 years later, she crossed over into Practice Management specializing in Functional Medicine including Acupuncture, herbs, Facial Rejuvenation and Body Optimization. After 12 years, Gina recently started working as the Practice Manager at Active Care. In her free time, she enjoys designing custom cakes for events, cooking and spending time with her daughter and fiancé.

From a young age, Shay has always enjoyed helping people.  From there, she knew she wanted to work in healthcare. She was in a car accident a few years ago and needed to see a chiropractor and ever since her love and interest for the field has grown. She says, “To now be a part of an amazing team that does so much to help their patients and community is awesome feeling.”  In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring nature with her husband and dog.
