More than relaxation and luxury.
Massage therapy involves working and acting on the body with pressure using manual tension and motion. Muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels and organs of the gastrointestinal system can all benefit from massage therapy.
We offer therapeutic deep tissue, trigger point, sports, orthopedic, pregnancy/pre-natal, and post-natal massages. We will direct and communicate the specific massage therapy goals to your Active Care massage therapist.
THE Massage THERAPY EXPERIENCE
Pre- and Post-natal massage – The mild pressure applied to the different muscle groups during prenatal massage helps to boost blood circulation including the arms and legs. Improved blood circulation helps to ease edema of the joints, reduces the amount of stress on the joints that reduces pain, aches, stiffness, fatigue, shortness of breath, and anxiety. The intent is to lessen pregnancy pains.
Sports massage – This massage technique is geared toward people involved in sport activities to help prevent or treat injuries. Every sports massage is tailored to the clients or patients sport and more specific the position that he or she may play. The intent is to restore range of motion and reduce pain.
Trigger point massage – This massage focuses on areas of tight muscle fibers that can form in your muscles after injuries or overuse. Trigger points are the manifestation of a spasm. A muscle spasm is an involuntary contraction of a muscle. Once the contraction becomes fast enough it will fill like a bump or “knot”. There are many reason that this occurs. Most common reason is muscle fatigue secondary to another injury. An evaluation by the physician is necessary to isolate the injury. The intent with trigger point massage therapy is to relieve pain.
